TET Exam Syllabus and Pattern

TET, or Teaching Eligibility Test, is a qualifying examination for individuals aspiring to become teachers in public or private schools across various states in India. This exam is conducted at both central (CTET) and state levels for primary (Classes 1-5) and upper primary (Classes 6-10) teaching roles. TET Exam Pattern

Note on Paper 2 Questions: The compulsory sections (CDP, Language 1, Language 2) total 95 questions. If a candidate chooses Mathematics and Science, these two subjects total 60 questions (30 for Math + 30 for Science), leading to a total of 155 questions (95+60). If a candidate chooses Social Studies, this subject totals 60 questions, also leading to a total of 155 questions (95+60). This conflicts with the stated overall exam total of 150 marks/minutes.

TET Exam Eligibility

To apply for the TET exam, candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria, including educational qualifications and age limits. The eligibility requirements differ for Paper 1 and Paper 2.

TET Exam Eligibility for Primary (Paper 1)

• Candidates should have passed the Senior Secondary or equivalent exam with a minimum of 50% along with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) (appearing candidates are also eligible). OR
• Candidates should have completed the Senior Secondary or equivalent exam scoring a minimum of 50% with a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) (final year candidates can also apply). OR
• Candidates who have completed their Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) are eligible.

TET Exam Eligibility for Upper Primary (Paper 2)

• Candidates should have completed their Graduation securing a minimum of 50% and passed or appearing in the 1st year of B.Ed. OR
• Candidates possessing a degree or appearing in the final year of a 4-year integrated course BSc & B.Ed. or BA & B.Ed. can apply. OR
• Candidates who have passed Class 12 and have completed B.El.Ed. are eligible (appearing candidates can also apply). OR
• Candidates who hold a Graduate degree and passed or appearing in a 2-year Diploma are eligible.
