About the Recruitment

The Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC), Patna, acting on behalf of the Higher Education Department, has released Notification No. BSUSC/CAP-01 to 06/2026 dated 3 July 2026, inviting online applications for 3,687 posts of Contractual Faculty (Assistant Professor). The vacancies are spread across 10 state universities of Bihar and the 211 newly established Rajkiya Degree Colleges functioning under them. Recruitment is being carried out for six subjects — Hindi, Economics, History, Political Science, English, and Sociology — through the HED Samarth Recruitment Portal.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must hold a Master's degree in the relevant subject from a recognised university with a minimum of 55% marks; a 5% relaxation (i.e., 50% marks) is allowed for SC/ST/BC/EBC/PwD candidates domiciled in Bihar. In addition, applicants must have qualified UGC-NET (or an equivalent recognised test) or hold a Ph.D. degree awarded in accordance with UGC Regulations, 2009/2016. Age must fall between 21 and 43 years as on 1 August 2026, with upper age relaxation available to reserved-category, women, and PwD candidates as per the prevailing reservation policy of the Bihar Government.

Vacancy & Post Details

Of the 3,687 total posts, subject-wise distribution is as follows: Hindi (625), Economics (597), History (658), Political Science (596), English (674), and Sociology (533). Seats are further distributed among the 10 participating state universities and their affiliated new Rajkiya Degree Colleges; the detailed college-wise and category-wise seat matrix is published along with the full notification on the Samarth portal. Candidates should check the subject and university/college of their choice carefully before submitting the online form, since post preferences affect eventual seat allotment.

Selection Process

Selection follows a single consolidated merit process worth 100 marks. Of these, 88 marks are awarded for academic qualifications — factoring in marks obtained at the Graduate and Post-Graduate level along with NET/Ph.D. status and other prescribed academic parameters — while the remaining 12 marks are reserved for an Interview-cum-Demonstration conducted before a subject expert committee. Candidates are first screened on the basis of their academic record before being called for the interview-cum-demonstration stage. A subject- and category-wise merit list is then drawn up on the aggregate score, followed by seat allotment.

• Recent passport-size photograph and signature, scanned as per portal specifications
• Valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card or other government-issued ID)

How to Apply

Eligible candidates should register on the HED Samarth Recruitment Portal (hedbiharrec.samarth.edu.in) and complete the online application between 3 and 15 July 2026. The form requires personal, academic, and category details, along with scanned copies of the photograph, signature, and supporting certificates in the specified format; no application fee is payable. Because the screening (17–18 July), interview-cum-demonstration (20–27 July), merit list (29 July), and seat allotment (1 August 2026) stages follow in quick succession, applicants are advised to keep all documents ready in advance and monitor the portal regularly — selected candidates must report for joining by 7 August 2026.
