Recruitment of House Surgeons in Punjab (Aug 2026 - Jan 2027 Session)

Overview of DHFW Punjab House Surgeon Recruitment 2026 The Directorate of Health and Family Welfare (DHFW), Punjab, has officially announced the recruitment of House Surgeons for the upcoming session (August 2026 to January 2027). A total of 523 vacancies are available across various District Hospitals (DH) and Sub-Divisional Hospitals (SDH) within the state.

This is an excellent temporary opportunity for recent medical graduates looking to gain hands-on clinical experience. The engagement is for a strict tenure of six months (with a maximum allowable tenure of one year per candidate). Selected candidates will receive a consolidated remuneration of Rs. 70,000/- per month.

Eligibility Criteria To be eligible for the House Surgeon posts in Punjab, candidates must fulfill the following parameters:

• Educational Qualification: Applicants must possess a valid M.B.B.S. Degree.

• Registration: Candidates must be registered with the Punjab Medical Council or the National Medical Commission (NMC).

• Language Proficiency: A mandatory requirement is the knowledge of the Punjabi language up to the Matriculation standard.

• Age Limit: Candidates should be below the age of 37 years. Standard age relaxations apply as per Punjab Government norms.

Selection Process and Counselling The selection for these 523 vacancies is completely merit-based. There is no written competitive examination.

Merit will be calculated based on the aggregate percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in their 1st, 2nd, and final M.B.B.S. university examinations.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend the Counselling Session scheduled for 28 July 2026 at 10:00 AM.

Note: On successful completion of the full six-month term, the Civil Surgeon will issue a completion certificate. Candidates who leave the job prior to the completion of their tenure will not be issued this certificate.
