About the Fellowship

CVRDE, Avadi, Chennai, one of DRDO's premier R&D laboratories under the Ministry of Defence, invites applications for the award of 16 Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) to pursue research in Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AFV) technologies.

Eligibility

• B.E./B.Tech with First Division from a recognized university, along with a valid GATE score in the relevant discipline, OR
• M.E./M.Tech with First Division at both Graduate and Post Graduate level (GATE score not required in this case)
• The postgraduate discipline must correspond to the candidate's undergraduate discipline; allied/equivalent disciplines are not accepted
• Degrees from foreign universities require an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Delhi
• Candidates already awarded a JRF at any DRDO laboratory/centre earlier are not eligible

Fellowship & Tenure

Selected Fellows receive a monthly stipend of ₹37,000 plus HRA as per DRDO norms. This is a research engagement, not a regular government post — it does not confer any right to absorption in DRDO, and may be terminated by either side with one month's notice. Fellows may register for a part-time Ph.D. during the tenure, subject to the Director's approval.

Selection Process

1. Shortlisting based on academic marks / GATE score
2. Written Test (Objective Type) at CVRDE, Avadi, Chennai
3. Interview for candidates who qualify the written test (same day)
4. No TA/DA is paid for the written test, interview, or joining
