AVNL was carved out during the restructuring of the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board and now runs several manufacturing units — Heavy Vehicles Factory Avadi, Engine Factory Avadi, Vehicle Factory Jabalpur, Ordnance Factory Medak, and Machine Tool Prototype Factory Ambernath — along with associated design centres and training institutes. It holds a dominant position in India's armoured and combat vehicle segment.

AVNL Vacancy Details

The 1,213 posts are split into two broad groups:

Non-Executive Posts (1,005 vacancies): All under the Junior Technician category, covering trades such as Electrician, Electronic Mechanic, Fitter (General), Machinist, Welder, Foundryman, Forger & Heat Treater, Quality Assurance Assistant, Painter, and more — spread across HVF Avadi, OFMK Medak, EFA Avadi and MTPF Ambernath.

Executive Posts (208 vacancies): Junior Manager (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Metallurgy, HR, Official Language, AI, Finance & Accounts), Assistant Manager (Finance, Civil, Company Secretary), Deputy Manager (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, IT, Marketing, PR, AI), plus a handful of senior-level openings — Consultant, Additional General Manager, Deputy General Manager and Senior Manager (Cyber Security / Intellectual Property).

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification requirements vary sharply by post:

• Junior Technician: NTC/NAC certificate in the relevant trade from the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT).
• Junior/Deputy Manager (Engineering disciplines): B.E./B.Tech in the corresponding branch — Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Metallurgy, Civil, Computer Science/IT, or Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning.
• Junior Manager (HR): Graduate with MBA (HR) or a relevant 2-year PG diploma.
• Junior Manager (Official Language): Degree with a 1-year Hindi/Hindi Translation diploma, or M.A. in Hindi/Hindi Translation.
• Assistant Manager (Finance): Graduate with MBA (Finance) or equivalent PG qualification.
• Assistant Manager (Company Secretary) / Deputy General Manager (CS): Company Secretary qualification with ICSI membership.
• Consultant (Finance & Audit): Chartered Accountant with 10 years of government/PSU audit experience.
• Additional General Manager (Business Development): Retired Army officers (Armoured Corps/Ordnance/Infantry) of Colonel rank and above, with 15 years of relevant procurement experience.
• Senior Manager (Cyber Security): Engineering/MCA background with cyber-security certification and hands-on experience.

Age Limit (as on 25 July 2026):

• Junior Technician / Junior Manager / Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager: up to 30 years (maximum 55 years with all relaxations applied)
• Senior Manager / Deputy General Manager / Additional General Manager / Consultant: below 65 years (inclusive of relaxations)

Standard government relaxation rules apply — 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC-NCL, 10 years for PwBD candidates, and as-applicable relaxation for Ex-Servicemen.

Selected candidates also get an annual 3% increment, 18 days of earned leave, 10 casual leave days, PF and gratuity, along with medical coverage for self and family during the engagement period.

Selection Process

1. ** Computer-Based Test (CBT):** A single objective paper of 100 marks in 2 hours, split into Part A (General Awareness, English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, Computer Aptitude — 50 marks) and Part B (trade/discipline-specific — 50 marks). There's no negative marking.
2. Trade Test: Qualifying-nature practical test for Junior Technician candidates who clear the CBT; final merit for this post is decided purely on CBT score.
3. Interview: For Junior/Assistant/Deputy Manager posts, worth 50 marks (15% weightage), assessing technical knowledge, experience and decision-making.
4. Direct Assessment: Senior Manager, DGM, AGM and Consultant posts skip the written exam and are selected through presentations, experience evaluation and interview.
5. Document verification and a medical fitness check follow before the final appointment.

Test centres are located in Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata and Kanpur.
