The Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India has introduced the Self-Enumeration (SE) facility for Phase-I of Census 2027 (Houselisting & Housing Census). Through this online service, residents can voluntarily submit their household information before the Census Enumerator visits their residence.

The Self-Enumeration portal remains available only during the notified period for each State/UT. After successful submission, a unique 11-digit Self-Enumeration ID (SE ID) is generated, which should be shared with the Enumerator during the house-to-house verification process. :

What is Census 2027 Self-Enumeration?

Self-Enumeration (SE) is an online facility that allows residents to submit their household details themselves instead of providing the information only during the Enumerator's visit. The questionnaire used in the portal is the same as the one used by Census Enumerators during the Houselisting & Housing Census.

Eligibility

Any household residing in India can use the Self-Enumeration facility during the notified Self-Enumeration period of their respective State or Union Territory. The household should have access to a valid mobile number for OTP verification. The same mobile number cannot be used for more than one household.

How to Complete Census 2027 Self-Enumeration

Step 1

Visit the official Self-Enumeration portal.

Step 2

Select your State/UT and complete the Captcha verification.

Step 3

Register the household by entering the Head of Household name and mobile number.

Step 4

Verify your mobile number using the OTP.

Step 5

Choose your preferred language.

Step 6

Enter your residence details, including District, Village/Town, Locality, Landmark and optional PIN Code.

Step 7

Mark the exact location of your residence on the digital map.

Step 8

Complete the Houselisting & Housing Census questionnaire.

Step 9

Review all entered information and make corrections if required.

Step 10

Save the application as Draft or click Final Submit.

Step 11

After successful submission, an 11-digit SE ID beginning with "H" will be generated and sent through SMS and Email (if provided).

Step 12

When the Census Enumerator visits your residence, provide the generated SE ID for verification.

After successful submission, the system generates a unique 11-digit Self-Enumeration ID (SE ID) prefixed with "H".

Applicants should keep this ID safely as it is required during the Enumerator's house visit. The SE ID can also be retrieved later using the registered mobile number.

State-wise Schedule

The Self-Enumeration period is different for each State and Union Territory. Applicants should check the official portal for the schedule applicable to their State/UT before registering.

According to the official timeline, West Bengal's Self-Enumeration and Houselisting schedule is yet to be announced.

Important Notes

• The Self-Enumeration portal remains active only during the notified period of the respective State/UT.
• The Head of Household name cannot be changed after registration.
• One mobile number can be used for only one household.
• The selected language cannot be changed after selection.
• No modification is allowed after clicking Final Submit, except through the Enumerator during verification.
• Keep the generated SE ID safely for future reference.
